Message from Mr Kilcoyne 31st August 2020

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child/ren back to school tomorrow. Staff have been busy preparing classrooms and putting in place all the measures required to make school as safe as possible .These measures were outlined in the letter you received 2 weeks ago.

Here are a few important points to remember:
Each pupil must know which colour arrow to follow to make their way to their classroom when they arrive at school. Please see the padlet below for details. Each pupil must also know their new teacher’s name. Please check the staff list under the parents info tab above. Parents/Guardians must collect their child/ren at the correct time as outlined in the letter you received 2 weeks ago and which can be read below. The full cooperation of all parents is required every day to ensure a smooth and safe ending to the school day for all our pupils.

Pupils who go home by car:

1.35 – Junior Infants will be collected at the school gate

1.45 – Senior Infants will be collected at the school gate

2.15 – pupils in 1st to 6th class who have a sibling in another class from 1st to 6th and whose surname starts with a letter from A to L will be collected at the school gate

2.30 – pupils in 1st to 6th class who have a sibling in another class from 1st to 6th and whose surname starts with a letter from M to Z will be collected at the school gate

2.40 – all other pupils, i.e. those with no siblings in another class from 1st to 6th will be collected at the school gate

Pupils who go home by bus:

All pupils who go home by bus will continue to go home at the usual times:

1.40 – Junior and Senior Infants will be collected in the lower car park

2.40 – 1st to 6th classes will be collected in the lower car park

4. Safety in our School Car Park: Please follow the procedure in place in our school car park when dropping and collecting your child. The
procedures can be found under the parents info tab above or at this link:

Dear Parent/s, Guardians,

I trust you are all keeping safe and well. I am pleased to inform you that plans are well underway for the safe and sustainable reopening of our school on 1st September.

Covid 19 Policy Statement and Plan:

The Board of Management of the school approved our Covid 19 Policy Statement on 17th August. You can read it here:  Covid 19 Policy Statement

The Policy commits the school to implementing in full the Department of Education’s Response Plan for the Reopening of Primary and Special Schools which you can read here: COVID-19 Response Plan for Primary and Special Schools

Plans specific to our school:

Please check your email for an 8 page letter outlining some of the practical arrangements regarding the reopening of our school on Tuesday 1st September. Please take the time to read the content of this letter fully and carefully. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam folder. If you still can not find the email, please email illistrinoffice@gmail.com and we will email the letter to you.

Covid 19 -Travel Advice:

The Minister for Education has asked me to forward the notice below to you.

Reminder to anyone attending school who has travelled abroad:

Government policy, which is based on official public health advice, continues to advise against non-essential travel overseas for everyone.

It is a requirement for anyone coming into Ireland, from locations other than those with a rating of ‘normal precautions’ (“green”), to restrict their movements for 14 days, and this includes school staff, parents and children or other students coming from abroad to attend school in Ireland. Restricting your movements means staying indoors in one location and avoiding contact with other people and social situations as much as possible.

Norma Foley,

Minister for Education.
