Letterkenny Gaels- 5K Road Race, Fun Run and Walk

We have made it to the National Final of the 2019′ Our World Irish Aid Awards’.

Four pupils from Mrs Toners class represented the school at the Regional awards in Sligo. They, along with pupils and teachers from 11 other primary schools across Ireland, will travel to Dublin Castle on Tuesday 11 June to showcase their projects as they compete for the overall ‘Our World Irish Aid Awards’ trophy.  Mrs Toner’s 5th class used recycled materials to make their own recycled environmental community. They made a powerpoint display to talk about their project and discussed the impact of plastic on our environment.  Our World Irish Aid Awards  is the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s flagship global citizenship programme for primary schools. Well done to everyone and good luck in Dublin!

Dancers for Cancer

On Tuesday, 30th of April at 11.45am, many people across Ireland danced their socks off to the tune, “Shut Up and Dance with Me”. This was the brain wave that ‘Today FM’ came up with, as a way of raising money for The Irish Cancer Society.

Many people in Ireland participated in dancing at the same time, whilst they broadcasted the song and party live on air. Ms. Molloy’s  3rd class participated and they brought in their pocket money to raise money. They practiced some dance moves all morning and were ready when the people of Ireland became  ‘Dancers  for Cancer’ at 11.45am. They had great  fun and managed to raise 90 euro. Well done 3rd class.

We had 2 girls teams that made it to the final. One of them were runners up and played extremely well against the eventually champions, Gaelscoil.
Aistear in Senior Infants

Ms McGroarty’s Senior Infants have been learning about ‘People Who Help Us’  in Aistear. The doctors and nurses helped make the patients better in the surgery before they went to the Pharmacy to collect their prescriptions. They made x-rays of their hands at the Art station and built Garda stations, hospitals and fire engines at the construction station.

Pictured below are Ms McGroarty’s Senior Infants making cute little mice from clay.
